The PhD program aims to train students in the pursuit of original research in the field, with the goal or providing students with skills and tools for conducting scholarly research. Fuqua's PhD program takes both theoretical and empirical perspectives on the study of organizational behavior.
Bio. Dan Ariely is the James B. Duke Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Economics at Duke University and a founding member of the Center for Advanced Hindsight.He does research in behavioral economics on the irrational ways people behave, described in plain language.
Students applying for graduate work in religion directly from an undergraduate program should have completed a strong undergraduate major in religion or a closely related field. Duke seeks to allow students to develop regimes of study that accord with their interests and abilities as well as with the demands of the disciplines of their fields of concentration.
Kevin Weinfurt, PhD Kevin Weinfurt, PhD, is Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Population Health Sciences in the Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Weinfurt is also Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Duke University Medical Center and a faculty member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute; Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience.
He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Duke University in 1992 and earned his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University in 1995 and 1997, respectively. Scott completed his clinical internship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he served as Chief Intern.

Ph.D. students generally enter the program with background in mathematics that includes preparation in analysis at or above the level of the Duke course MATH 531 Basic Analysis. In rare cases a student may take MATH 531 concurrently in the first semester, in order to ensure mathematical preparation.
